Strengthening urban governance by promoting citizen-based co-creation and crowd-sourcing
Digitalsunray is part of the 3-year GREENGAGE project.
The project's objective includes providing citizen science initiatives in pilot cities with advanced technologies and methodologies to enhance citizen engagement and thereby improve the data quality of existing information. GREENGAGE is overseen by AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH and receives funding through the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Program.
The GREENGAGE initiative aims to foster innovative governance processes and assist authorities in designing strategies to support climate protection and adaptation policies, facilitating adjustments to climate-related structural changes. This endeavor seeks to promote citizen participation through the application of cutting-edge technologies.
In four pilot projects across Europe, citizen observatories will be established in cities and regions. These observatories will take a top-down approach to scrutinize environmental challenges and collaboratively develop solutions alongside citizens.
GREENGAGE will bolster these initiatives with a tailored toolbox of technologies geared towards enhancing data observation, data visualization, information processing, and training. The project's objectives encompass raising citizen awareness, interest, and engagement in urban environmental issues, promoting science-based approaches to interpreting environmental data, and fostering collaboration among partner cities to exchange best practices and experiences.
As a technology partner, Digitalsunray will support the development of these tools or the adaptation of existing technologies for use cases.
